The Service Experts Heating and Air Conditioning Corporate Office in Plano, TX was excited to donate more than 320 pounds of food to Minnie’s Food Pantry, also located in Plano.
“Last fall, I had the chance to get a group of people to volunteer at Minnie’s and it was an unbelievable experience,” said Amanda Wilson, Operations Specialist for Service Experts. “They do so much more than just collect food – they are a vital part of this community.”
Cheryl Jackson began Minnie’s Food Pantry as a way to recognize her mother, Minnie Hawthorne-Ewing D.D., who spent her younger years wondering if and where she would obtain her next meal. Minnie’s doesn’t just provide free, healthy meals to families in need, they also hold classes to teach families how to incorporate the food they receive to cook healthy, long-lasting meals. They also provide resume aid along with money-management and job classes to help families get back on their feet.
Since the families receive approximately 50 pounds of food to get them through the month, Service Experts was able to provide meals for six families for the month.
“All the team members were so excited that we had this food drive for the organization, and they even took time to show us their amazing facility,” Wilson said.
